ROV Tooling Induction Course

Course Overview

MTCS Ltd offer bespoke training on subsea tooling systems designed for personnel who are required to install, operate and maintain intervention tooling as used on work class ROV systems.

The course is 2 days in duration and is designed as an introduction to operational and technical concepts that must be appreciated prior to working on subsea tooling systems.

The course is generic however we recommend that clients allow it to be tailored to their own specific equipment and operating procedures, and if possible allow access to in house equipment for practical training.

Candidate Requirements

It is recommended that candidates have some ROV experience and are working at PT Level II, and working towards PT Level I grade. Candidates should have either an electrical/ electronic and/or hydraulic background.

Course Modules

The course includes the following modules:

  • The typical range of ROV intervention tooling
  • The installation and set-up of tooling
  • The calibration of tooling
  • The operation of torque tools
  • Maintenance requirements for tooling
  • Introduction to proportional valve packs
  • Safety Considerations when carrying out tooling operations

Assessment

  • Assessment is carried out by:
  • Multiple Choice exam
  • Written examination
  • Observation (Practical Aptitude)
  • Observation (Technical Aptitude)
  • Questioning

Certification

Successful candidates will be awarded ‘ROV Tooling Induction Certificate of Training’

Further Development

Candidates will be registered into the MTCS Ltd. Competence Management Program which allows progression through the IMCA grading system (see competence management)

This course can be adapted for Offshore contracting companies and be delivered at their facilities and focus on their specific systems and procedures.
