Competence Assurance
High Voltage Competence Assurance
There has been much discussion on how personnel can be deemed competent in the Isolation of a High Voltage ROV system.
As a leading provider in High Voltage Safety Awareness Training and Competence Assurance, MTCS Ltd, have developed a robust assessment process that can be used to determine the competence of an individual in the Isolation and Earthing of an ROV system.
As an accredited training and assessment centre we believe that the assessment process (as opposed to just the training) is key to determining a candidates competence. The assessment is conducted by fully qualified and experienced Assessors with an extensive technical background in ROV Electrical Systems.
We have put in place a range of specific performance criteria that delegates can be measured against during the assessment which may be conducted on the delegates ROV system.
The elements include:
- Disconnection
- Isolation
- Proving the System Dead
- Attaching Additional Earths and Discharging
- Completing Documentation (Permits etc)
- Re-energising the System
Personnel who are eligible for this assessment must have passed/completed:
- A suitable High Voltage Safety Awareness Course in accordance with IMCA R005
- Complete a 1 day familiarisation course prior to taking the assessment (recommended)
- Have a technical background in electrical systems
- Have technical experience with the ROV on which they are to be assessed
- Hold a valid certificate of Competence at Submersible Engineer Grade
We recommend that the assessment is conducted at client premises on their ROV system.
